Carpet face weight is defined as the weight of the carpet pile per square yard of carpet, measured in ounces. The term refers to the weight of the carpet’s fibers only, not the backing material.

You can lay carpet over existing carpet, but this is not a method that is typically encouraged. If you do lay carpet over carpet, be sure you have a low-pile carpet underneath to get tack strips a better chance for attaching and consider installing a light-grade underlayment.

Tile / Stone

Routine maintenance of glazed and unglazed floor tile consists of simply sweeping and damp mopping with clean water and a mild solution of neutral cleaner formulated for glazed tile. Areas exposed to heavy traffic can be cleaned with solution of a heavy-duty neutral cleaner formulated for glazed tile and may also require scrubbing, depending on the texture of the surface. It is very important to change the mop water frequently -approximately every 100-500 square feet- depending on how soiled the surface is. Please contact your sales representative for recommendations on the type of cleaner best suited for your application.

There is no right or wrong answer here. Depending on the size of the space where the tile is going will determine how big of a floor tile you can use.

Ceramic floor tile is the best choice for cost-effectiveness and to use in areas that won’t regularly be exposed to liquids. Porcelain floor tile is the best choice for areas that may see more moisture such as the bathroom or heavy foot traffic.

Porcelain tiles because they’re heavier and less porous and are very durable.

First sweep the floor of any debris. A neutral PH cleaner diluted with water. Make sure to change the water often so you are not cleaning the floor with dirty water.

Yes, the tile will need to be frost-proof and unglazed.

A glazed tile is already sealed. You can use a sealer on the grout or on a unglazed tile.

Porcelain tile flooring is a type of ceramic made of a very fine mixture of clays and minerals similar to those found in fine dinnerware. These special clays allow porcelain tile to be fired at temperatures even higher than ceramic tile, typically exceeding 2,400 degrees Fahrenheit. The higher temperature results in a very dense tile. This is ideal because the denser a tile, the better it resists moisture.

Usually 10% is the standard which will allow for any broken tile, cuts or waste when installing.

Wood Flooring

Hardwood flooring is any product made from timber that is specifically designed for flooring. A real, solid hardwood floor will last the life of the home, and can be refinished/repaired as needed. When you consider the overall life of a hardwood floor, the benefits of wood flooring outweigh the initial cost.

Installing felt pads on the legs of furniture will help protect your hardwood floors.

We recommend using an approved cleaner such as Bona.

The possibilities are endless. The two main categories are solid hardwood flooring and engineered hardwood. There are different species, thickness, varying widths as well as finishes. They also vary in hardness, which is ranked using a scale called the “Janka Hardness Rating.”

Your two options for hardwood flooring styles are pre-finished and site-finished. Pre-finished hardwood is ready to be installed immediately. Site-finished hardwood will come in raw condition. The benefit of site finished hardwood is that you can customize the scrape, color and finish.

You will need to decide between pre-finished or site-finished first. Our experienced associates can assist you in selecting the perfect hardwood for your home.

A variety of factors will determine how long it will take to install your hardwood floors. Pre-finished hardwoods can be installed much faster than site-finished.

You should wait at least 24 hours before walking on your newly installed hardwood floors with socks.

Oak is the most popular hardwood flooring.

No this will damage your hardwood flooring. Only use an approved cleaner such as Bona for your hardwoods.

Laminate

Laminate flooring is not a waterproof. We refer to it as a moisture-resistant product.

Laminate floor base consists of pressed chipped wood particles. The top has the appearance of real wood due to the accurate image layer—essentially a well-rendered photograph of wood encased in a clear, durable wear layer.

Laminate flooring is available in a variety of thickness. It can range from 6mm to 12mm.

Luxury Vinyl

Luxury vinyl tile and Luxury vinyl plank. It is made to look like wood and stone, but without the maintenance.

Luxury vinyl is extremely durable and water resistant.

It is best to check with the manufactures recommendation for this.
